Jefferson Davis Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over Wardlaw Academy. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won seven in a row.

Landon Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jefferson Davis Academy got a massive performance out of Payton Payne, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Payne has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Colson Loadholt was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson Davis Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Richard Winn Academy entered their tilt with Wardlaw Academy last Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Patriots. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Jefferson Davis Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Richard Winn Academy, their record now sits at 7-3.
Jefferson Davis Academy suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Richard Winn Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
