After a string of 12 wins, Discovery Canyon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran Lions. The match was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but the Thunder couldn't quite close it out.

Discovery Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Rohacs, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Eckels, who went 7 of 13 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

Discovery Canyon's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-2. As for Lutheran, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Discovery Canyon and Lutheran should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Discovery Canyon will challenge Sand Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 52 places (20 vs. 72). Discovery Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Lutheran (ranked 21st) will meet Lewis-Palmer (ranked 113th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
