North Central I recap October 8, 2013
Cloverdale scaled the state rankings by moving to 892 from 967 this week, the biggest jump in North Central I. The Eagles were able to move up by besting Kelseyville 23-22.
Middletown extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fort Bragg, 42-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Helena takes on second place Middletown. Last week, St. Helena topped Lower Lake, while Middletown bested the Timberwolves.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Saints' Gatlin Blakeley goes up against Bill Foltmer's team's Anthonie Guzman.
Next week's game between St. Helena and the Mustangs will feature a good passing match up as Jack Preston will test his arm against Guzman's defensive ability. So far this year Brandon Farrell's team's Preston has 418 yards and 2 touchdowns to his credit, while Guzman has notched 2 interceptions for Middletown.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Mustangs take on the Saints. Middletown has allowed 14 points this season, while St. Helena has given up 41. The Mustangs allowed 0 points last week as they beat Fort Bragg.
Middletown was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in North Central I. Earlier in the week, the Mustangs defeated Roy Perkins' team 42-0.
