The Hempstead Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 88-28 loss at the hands of Bellaire. Hempstead was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-9.
Tyniah Smith was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds for Bellaire. That makes it six consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Bellaire's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Turner, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Hempstead's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Bellaire, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Hempstead will head out on the road to face off against Van Vleck at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Van Vleck's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Hempstead has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Bellaire will take on St. Agnes Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
