Mitchell and Springstead are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Mitchell Mustangs will welcome the Springstead Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Fivay get on the board and left with a 26-0 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 8.3 runs per game.
JACOB APONTE made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. APONTE was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.

Back at the plate, CARTER KOENIG was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JOHNATHON RODRIGUEZ, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Mitchell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Springstead earned a 7-3 win over Citrus on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Billy Ward was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Mitchell pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only 4.25 in the others. As for Springstead, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
