Chisum hasn't had much luck against Winnsboro recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Raiders at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Chisum sitting on three straight wins and Winnsboro on four.
Chisum had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Prairiland on Tuesday. The Mustangs blew past the Patriots 14-4. The Mustangs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th (when they won 13-3).
Brooklyn Ingram spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Molly Martin and Cadriene Snell did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Snell got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Martin has posted since back in February. Addie Daigle was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Winnsboro beat Commerce 6-1 on Tuesday.
Laila Wells was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Traci Rogers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Moss, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Chisum's record now sits at 13-10. As for Winnsboro, their record is now 14-3-2.
