Baseball Recap: Malcolm Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Malcolm waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Standing Bear Grizzlies with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Clippers have won 15 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Frank and Mason Wisnieski were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Frank pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wisnieski tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Frank went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Wisnieski went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Wisnieski a new career-high.

In other batting news, Logan Mcgreer and Justin Wisnieski did most of the damage at the plate: Mcgreer went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Justin went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Mcgreer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett England, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Malcolm kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Malcolm's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Standing Bear, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Malcolm does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Standing Bear, they will challenge Lincoln Northeast at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
