Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Waverly

Waverly extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 5-7 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the South Webster Jeeps 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 29th.

Lexi Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Robertson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for South Webster, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 25, 2024.

On South Webster's side, Jaiden White was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. White was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

White wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooklynn Piguet, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Waverly is set to square off against their familiar foe Portsmouth West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, South Webster will take on rival Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
