The Northern Huskies won the last time they faced the Rockwood Rockets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Northern strolled past the Rockets with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. Given Northern's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 217th in Maryland, while the Rockets are ranked 744th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Rockwood still got an impressive performance from Zander Ritenour, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and four steals. Ritenour hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Christian Schrock was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Rockwood were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Northern's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for Rockwood, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Northern won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Rockwood, they will play host again and welcome the Mountaineers, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
