Castilleja extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 17-6 to the South San Francisco Warriors. The Gators were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Elly An was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits. An was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Cali Scolnick made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Magnolia Kushner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
As for South San Francisco, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Castilleja, South San Francisco also got a great game from a two-way player: Sydney Semans. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Semans was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, South San Francisco got a massive performance out of Madyson Jade Quintanilla, who fired off two home runs and four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs Quintanilla has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Liala Kinchen, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Castilleja will venture away from home to square off against El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South San Francisco, they will host Lowell at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
