Dan River is 1-8 against Appomattox County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dan River Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Appomattox County Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Dan River is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Dan River had to settle for a 24-22 defeat against William Campbell.
Dan River's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Stanford Lipscomb, who threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and Trevon Brooks who picked up 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Appomattox County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it three two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat William Campbell 47-17 on the road. Considering Appomattox County has won three contests by more than 24 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
William Campbell's win bumped their season record to 4-5 while Dan River's loss dropped theirs to 3-6.
Things could have been worse for Dan River, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-26 loss to Appomattox County when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can Dan River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
