Cody Cox was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Cox wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Broc Matthews, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Salmon's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Filer, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2-1.
Looking ahead, Salmon will challenge Teton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Filer, they will square off against Buhl at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
