The Giddings Lonestar Southeast Mustangs and Emery/Weiner squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Giddings Lonestar Southeast Mustangs had to settle for second. They were beaten by the 90-41. Giddings Lonestar Southeast's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
It was another big night for Zac Laviage, who rushed for 310 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown for Emery/Weiner. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Newman, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Giddings Lonestar Southeast's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-4. As for Emery/Weiner, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Giddings Lonestar Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emery/Weiner will square off against Veritas Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Veritas Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
