After having lost a blowout in their previous game against IMG Academy, the Northside Grizzlies were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They blew past Greene County Tech 56-33. Given Northside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Greene County Tech is ranked 35th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Erianna Gooden, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The match was Gooden's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazley Grotjohn, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Greene County Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacey Edrington. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points. Myiah Butler was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Northside's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Greene County Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Northside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sapulpa at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Sapulpa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. Greene County Tech won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bergman on December 8th. Bergman is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
