MISSION VIEJO, Calif. -
Mission Viejo (Calif.) snapped the four-game winning streak of Tesoro (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), with a 37-6 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a field goal by
Zach Olson in the second quarter, the Diablos led 20-0 at the half.
Mission Viejo expanded its lead to 23 points entering the fourth quarter. MV scored once in the quarter on a field goal by Olson.
The Diablos scored 20 points in the second quarter on the way to a win. Mission Viejo scored two touchdowns on passing plays during the quarter, boosted by two receptions by
Sean Modster.
Tesoro's only touchdown came on a 37-yard pass from undefined to Jake Smeltzer in the fourth quarter.
Coming into the game MV had allowed 20.9 points per game this year.
The loss comes after Tesoro defeated El Toro 35-6 last week.
Mission Viejo (8-0) will play a South Coast game against Trabuco Hills next week, while Tesoro (6-2) will take on San Clemente also in a South Coast game.
