The Sullivan Redskins will head out to take on the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sullivan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sullivan proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Central A & M 6-5. While the Redskins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Aeralyn Thrasher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 14 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Harmony Ray was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Piper Conlin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Teutopolis posted their closest victory since May 15, 2024 on Thursday. They never let Altamont get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Wooden Shoes haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Alyssa Tipton, who gave up just two hits and racked up 24 Ks to keep Altamont off the board. Tipton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Teutopolis' win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kera Hartke, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Hartke a new career-high.
Sullivan's record is now 8-3. As for Teutopolis, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Sullivan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Teutopolis struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sullivan might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Teutopolis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
