Coronado has gone 9-1 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. Coronado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Arbor View, who was ranked tenth at the time (Coronado was ranked 11th). The Cougars put the hurt on the Aggies with a sharp 18-7 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Aubrie Sisler spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paisley Magdaleno was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Chase Magdaleno, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Liberty entered their matchup against Palo Verde on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Patriots fell 7-2 to the Panthers. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Liberty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgyn Vesco, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Coronado pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3-2.
Coronado came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
