Basketball Recap: Godby Skates Past Suwannee with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rickards, Godby was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They claimed a resounding 62-21 win over the Suwannee Bulldogs. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 36 points or more this season.

Godby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deri'Unna Dixon led the charge by going 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Dixon is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Lewis, who posted ten points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Godby is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.7 points. As for Suwannee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Godby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-11 victory against Wakulla on the 10th. As for Suwannee, they will venture away from home to challenge Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
