Basketball Recap: Shoshoni Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Megan Harris and Kaylor Mcconnaughey

Shoshoni lost against Wright back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Shoshoni Wranglers lost to the Wright Panthers at home by a 51-32 margin. The Wranglers were down 42-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Shoshoni had strong showings from Kaylor McConnaughey, who posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and seven assists, and Megan Harris, who put up eight points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points McConnaughey has posted since back in February of 2024.

Even though they lost, Shoshoni smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Wright was led to victory by Jocelyn Umiker and Briana Meza. Umiker dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Meza almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. Meza has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Shoshoni's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wright, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Shoshoni didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-35 defeat against Big Horn on the 11th. As for Wright, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-39 loss against Hot Springs County on the 11th.
