Lovington took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Hobbs Eagles by a score of 31-22. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats who have now won eight matches in a row dating back to last season.
Mathew Prudencio looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Ondalis Cardenas helped Prudencio out on the ground, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Hobbs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omarrion Kennedy, who rushed for 101 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for nine yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Kennedy got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible65 yards.
Lovington will head out to challenge Portales at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hobbs, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Artesia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hobbs focused on turnovers this week as team gave up five on Friday.
