If the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks were riding high off their 75-32 takedown of the Rancho Dominguez Lobos on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Murrieta Valley took a 76-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Culver City on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Nighthawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Steffen, who scored 24 points. The match was Steffen's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Jones, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Murrieta Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Culver City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Murrieta Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against JW North at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th. JW North knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Murrieta Valley likes a good challenge. Culver City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oakwood at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. Oakwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
