The Southern Alamance Patriots's game on Wednesday was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 41-33 to Southeast Alamance. While losing is never fun, Southern Alamance can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Southeast Alamance is ranked 23rd).
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Edmunds, who scored 10 points. Madison Brouillard was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southeast Alamance to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaniya Paylor, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The game was Paylor's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara LaChapelle, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Southeast Alamance, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Alamance will take on East Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southeast Alamance, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
