The Greencastle Tiger Cubs will challenge the Parke Heritage Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Cascade hit Greencastle with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tiger Cubs lost 9-1 to the Cadets.
Greencastle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brinley Mullis, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Parke Heritage and Covington had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wolves came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 8-4 on Friday. The game was the first time the Wolves have beaten the Trojans on their field since April 15, 2023.
Aerianna Desmith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taya Sturmer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Coffman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Parke Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covington only posted an OBP of .323.
Greencastle's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Parke Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Greencastle was able to grind out a solid win over Parke Heritage in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Tiger Cubs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
