Meanwhile, Adams Central made easy work of Centennial on Tuesday and carried off a 13-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nick Mousel was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mousel was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Adams Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Adams Central gave Cody Funk the start and clearly made the right call: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Funk a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Adams Central let Ian Cass and Kraeson Houghtelling run wild. Cass earned one RBI, three runs, and three stolen bases, while Houghtelling got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Cass a new career-high. Caleb Reiners was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Adams Central's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Maxwell/St. Patrick's, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
