Quincy hasn't had much luck against Glenwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Quincy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Quincy beat Sacred Heart-Griffin 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cyclones: they've now won three in a row.
Izzy Weppler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Maggie Neally was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. Ivy Winter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Quincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Glenwood came tearing into Saturday's game with 17 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by six runs or more this season.
Alyvia Streb tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Glenwood got a massive performance out of Ryleigh Kiel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Kiel has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bobb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Glenwood pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 12-19.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Quincy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Glenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Quincy might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Glenwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
