Basketball Recap: Greene County Piles Up the Points Against Isabella

Greene County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 62-32 victory over the Isabella Mustangs. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 24 point advantage.

Greene County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ronald Wilder Jr., who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Wilder Jr. is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ja'Ron Lavender, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Greene County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Isabella, they are on a 36-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Greene County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-45 victory against Greensboro on the 29th. Isabella has also already played their next contest, a 66-22 defeat against Maplesville on the 28th.
