Even though the Greeneview Rams have not done well against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Greeneview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 victory over West Liberty-Salem. The victory was all the more spectacular given Greeneview's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while West Liberty-Salem is ranked 152nd).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chaley Wade, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Ava Astorino was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Greeneview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for West Liberty-Salem, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Greeneview will head out on the road to face off against Northeastern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northeastern is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. West Liberty-Salem will take on Southeastern Local at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southeastern Local is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
