In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. Among the action were the efforts of Thurston's junior Cade Crist, an offensive menace who scored eight total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Oregon City's 60 - 35 win over Grants Pass last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Colby Iverson. Iverson tossed the ball for 383 yards and six TDs. That performance landed Iverson among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Hermiston (19th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Central Valley (32nd). Hermiston was crushed by Central Valley 44 - 14. The team got a solid performance out of senior Andrew James (he rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Movin on Up
Sherwood will have a better view of things this week after its strong showing last week propelled it 11 spots up the power rankings. That was the biggest rise of the week. It breezed past Sandy with a final score of 42 - 14. Sherwood did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Lakeridge (11th in the power rankings) and West Linn (6th). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. West Linn and Lakeridge both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (West Linn with four and Lakeridge with four), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
