With a playoff game on the line, the Headland Rams rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The win was familiar territory for Headland who now have four in a row.
Jaxon Williams was his usual excellent self, throwing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 107 yards. Williams hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Another player making a difference was CALEB DOZIER, who picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, UMS-Wright Prep still got an impressive performance from Joe Lott, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 137 yards and a touchdown. Lott really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Headland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for UMS-Wright Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Headland will be playing in front of their home fans against Gulf Shores at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Shores knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Headland likes a good challenge. UMS-Wright Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
