Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Laila Stewart and Zara Leilani Stewart

First Baptist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seacrest Country Day Stingrays. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stingrays earlier this season, when they won 48-31.

First Baptist Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zara Leilani Stewart, who posted ten points and seven rebounds, and Laila Stewart, who earned nine points along with five boards and three steals.

First Baptist Academy's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Seacrest Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

First Baptist Academy and Seacrest Country Day should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. First Baptist Academy (ranked 35th) will meet Clewiston (ranked 404th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Seacrest Country Day will face off against Southwest Florida Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st up 489 places (46 vs. 535).
