The Clint Lions lost against the Pecos Eagles back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Clint fell to Pecos 27-21.
When it comes to explaining why Clint lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Ivey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Johnny Morales continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pecos, rushing for 211 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Sandoval, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Clint's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Pecos, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4.
Clint will challenge Fabens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fabens is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Pecos, they will be playing at home against Fort Stockton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Corbin Luna and Morales.
