Softball Recap: Academy of the New Church Has No Trouble Against Plumstead Christian

Academy of the New Church got themselves on the board against Plumstead Christian on Tuesday, but Plumstead Christian never followed suit. They put the hurt on Plumstead Christian with a sharp 12-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Maddie Conlon and Jamie Madara made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Conlon didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Madara pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. At the plate, Conlon scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Madara scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Olivia Schriver was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Mayo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Academy of the New Church kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plumstead Christian only managed one hit.

Academy of the New Church has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs this season. As for Plumstead Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the New Church will take on Swenson Arts & Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plumstead Christian, they will square off against Bristol at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
