Sahuarita and Mica Mountain are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sahuarita 2.4, Mica Mountain 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Sahuarita made easy work of Mohave and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won 22 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayd Villa made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Callie Fox and Emily Donia did most of the damage at the plate: Fox went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double, while Donia went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Donia has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Mica Mountain waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Rattlers by a score of 9-5.
The team relied heavily on Shaylee Fuell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Caeli Shellenbarger, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Mica Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in five consecutive games.
Sahuarita's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their record now sits at 20-11.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sahuarita has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Mica Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
