Baseball Recap: Raymondville Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Raymondville hadn't done well against Lyford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bearkats were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Bearkats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Justin Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Ryan Flores was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jaime Rigo Villegas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Raymondville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the third in a row for Raymondville, bringing their record up to 19-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lyford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-13-1.
