2A-2 Region IV District 14 recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this week, Rogers beat Schulenburg 48-12. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Eagles.
Blanco moved up to 491 from 586 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers were able to move up by beating Jarrell 36-15.
Javeon Lara was a passing and rushing force as the Shorthorns fell to Rogers. Lara's favorite target this week was Tyler Thompson, who caught 4 passes for 25 yards.
Lara was the best running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 164 yards as Schulenburg beat the Cougars. Teammate Ross Bludau added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.
Leading 2A-2 Region IV District 14 in both passing and receiving yards, Tommy Bludau's team's Bludau and Jeffrey Lara have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Bludau has thrown for 1,405 yards this season, while Lara has 32 catches for 747 yards. Jarrell's De Sean Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 807.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Rogers takes on second place Jarrell.
The Shorthorns lost to Jeff Walker's team 48-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lara ran for 164 yards in the defeat.
