The Hicks Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Hill Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
After a string of six wins, Hicks' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were beaten by Walker 68-34. Hicks was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-14.
Meanwhile, Oak Hill faced Anacoco in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Oak Hill took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anacoco on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their loss, Oak Hill saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Krystina Greene, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Dyer, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hicks' loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins and brought them to 27-3. As for Oak Hill, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 22-13.
Hicks beat Oak Hill 68-56 when the teams last played on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hicks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
