Softball Recap: Dale County Has No Trouble Against Providence Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pike Road, Dale County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Providence Christian Eagles as they made off with a 17-5 win. The Warriors not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th.

Shayleigh Whitman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bre Wilkerson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Grace Snellgrove, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Dale County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Dale County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dale County will welcome Slocomb at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Tops will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Providence Christian, they will be playing at home against Pike Road at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
