Northeast Ohio - Valley recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Northeast Ohio - Valley this week, Mentor beat Hudson 38-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Brunswick and Strongsville played the most contested game in the league this week, with Brunswick eventually emerging with a 28-25 victory. Steven Ficyk threw for 77 yards and 1 touchdown in the win.
The Explorers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mitchell Guadagni threw for 168 and 1 touchdown and Colton Whited had 125 yards receiving. On the ground Guadagni chipped in 81 yards. Reid Robinson helped Hudson's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 16 yards.
Guadagni was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 81 yards as Hudson lost to Mentor. Teammate Dean Miller added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
Leading Northeast Ohio - Valley in both passing and receiving yards, Ron Wright's team's Guadagni and Whited have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Guadagni has thrown for 1,627 yards this season, while Whited has 47 catches for 771 yards. Richie Norman from the Blue Devils leads the league in rushing with 745 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Steve Trivisonno's team takes on the Mustangs. The Cardinals are currently in first, while Strongsville is in fourth.
Mentor took down the Explorers 38-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
