Chanute is 7-2 against Labette County since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chanute Blue Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Labette County Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chanute has five straight victories, Labette County has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Chanute got themselves on the board against Field Kindley, but Field Kindley never followed suit. They took down the Golden Tornado 14-0.
It was another big night for Quinton Harding, who rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Labette County had to settle for a 17-14 defeat against Independence on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Labette County saw an underclassman step up: Jamaal Jackson rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Chanute's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating across those contests too: they took their wins by an average of 26 points. As for Labette County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Chanute against Labette County when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-20 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Labette County's Griffin Eaton, who picked up 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 36 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
