Westview won against Columbus on Saturday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Wolverines walked away with a 5-1 win over the Gretna Dragons. The victory was nothing new for the Wolverines as they're now sitting on three straight.
Caiden Cannon looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Markel Newton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was PJ Hodges, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Westview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gretna struck out seven times.
