The Wesley Chapel Wildcats entered their tilt with the Cypress Creek Coyotes with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Wesley Chapel strolled past Cypress Creek with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 71-54. Given Wesley Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Cypress Creek is ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wesley Chapel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sian Morris, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Trey Murray was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with three steals.
Cypress Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Manuel Castro and Ryan Eaton. Castro scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Eaton scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Castro is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalfonso Burney, who scored six points.
Wesley Chapel's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cypress Creek, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Wesley Chapel will be playing at home against Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Land O' Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out on the road to take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Cypress Creek likes a good challenge.
