Thursday just wasn't the day for Lake Shore's offense. They fell 4-0 to the Marine City Mariners on Thursday. The Shorians' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Sophia VanDenstorm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Lake Shore's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Marine City, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Shore will welcome Port Huron Northern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marine City, they will take on Plainwell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mariners are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
