Lakewood Ranch is 9-1 against Palmetto since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Lakewood Ranch is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
While Lakewood Ranch's win against Parrish Community wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Bulls 3-2 on Tuesday.
Lakewood Ranch wouldn't go down easily and took Parrish Community into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-19, 15-25, 25-19, 23-21.

Lakewood Ranch's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Juliana Neri, who had 35 kills, and Adalynn Lund, who had 15 digs, ten kills, two aces, and one block. With that strong performance, Lund is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Hayden Zimmerman was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.
They weren't the only good servers: Lakewood Ranch was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Palmetto suffered their biggest defeat since September 2nd on Tuesday. They came up short against Southeast, falling 3-0. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Seminoles: they've now lost three in a row.
Palmetto was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Southeast work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-23.
Lakewood Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Lakewood Ranch took their win against Palmetto in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
