The Miramonte Matadors took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). They breezed by Kennedy at home to the tune of 88-24. With Miramonte ahead 43-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Miramonte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Kaufhold, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darion Adams, who scored 7 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Scarbrough, who scored 7 points.
Miramonte's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Kennedy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Miramonte will head out on the road to face off against California at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for the Eagles, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Titans at 7:00 p.m.
