The George West Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. The game between them and Taft wasn't particularly close, with George West falling 86-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
George West lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tristen Blevins, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that Blevins posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of William Balew, who scored 16 points.
George West has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. As for Taft, their victory bumped their record up to 19-12.
George West will head out on the road to challenge the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mathis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Taft, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Aransas Pass' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
