Bangor is 0-3 against Hartford since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will challenge the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. Bangor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
15 must be Bangor's lucky number: they beat Lawrence with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Vikings never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Jaret McCoy made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Bangor's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 9-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Bangor got a massive performance out of Julian Pullins, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The Vikings are undefeated when Pullins posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Luke Remington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bangor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Hartford never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against White Pigeon on Monday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Chiefs.
Hartford is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Bangor, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bangor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Hartford struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bangor might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Hartford when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
