The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 66-21 victory over Friendly on the road. Gwynn Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 43 points or more this season.
Davis Geormaya continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Maya Pitts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Friendly struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gwynn Park racked up 14 assists.
Gwynn Park is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Friendly, they dropped their record down to 7-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Gwynn Park will take on the Foresters at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Forest Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Yellowjackets like a good challenge. As for Friendly, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North is ranked 177th, while the Patriots are ranked 182nd).
