The Hume Hornets had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past Bronaugh with a 47-43 win. That's another feather in the cap for Hume, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Strauss Banes, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The match was Banes' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bowling, who scored 11 points.
Hume's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Bronaugh, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Hume will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Drexel at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Bronaugh, they will take on Montrose at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
