The Morgan Eagles entered their tilt with the Walnut Springs Hornets with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Morgan strolled past the Hornets with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-44. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Morgan also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Morgan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adrian Alonzo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Alonzo has scored at least a third of Morgan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds.
Morgan's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Walnut Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Covington the next time they take the court. Morgan will head out to face the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hornets will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
