Stephen Petri gave up the fewest walks he has since back in March on Wednesday. He turned in nothing short of a gem, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Petri and Metamora will challenge Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Sadly, Petri's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Redbirds' three-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Petri and the Redbirds surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Friday's match.
